Smoker’s Melanosis

Smoker’s melanosis, or smoking-related melanosis, is a benign peculiar melanin pigmentation of the oral mucosa. Tobacco smoke that stimulates melanocytes. 

Clinical capabilities:

Clinically, it appears as a multiple brown pigmented areas, commonly placed at the anterior labial gingiva of the mandible pigmentation of the buccal mucosa and palate has been related with pipe smoking. The intensity of pigmentation is related to time and dose. Females are extra typically affected.

Differential prognosis:

Ordinary pigmentation, drug-brought on pigmentation, pigmented nevi, melanoma, Addison disease. 

Treatment:

No remedy is required. Cessation of smoking is commonly associated with a go back of regular mucosal pigmentation.
